My time at Empire has truly been life-changing. Empire gave me my best friends and life experiences I never would have had anywhere else. The opportunities and artistic exposure that Empire brought to my small town are things I will forever be grateful for. From the invaluable skills in teamwork, individuality, and trust, to the confidence I gained in the audition room, Empire prepared me for any career path, not just in the arts. The faculty—especially Lauren and Alex—create an environment where every student feels supported, known, and pushed to be their best. Their leadership as successful women with families running a nurturing business has inspired me greatly. Empire really is a family, and their dedication to both students and parents creates a truly unique, positive space for growth.

Looking back, the most valuable lessons I gained were about respect, teamwork, and being true to myself. We are all in this together is a lesson that has stayed with me throughout my life and career. Empire’s focus on respect, kindness, and personal integrity shaped not only my professional skills but my character as well. The education I received at Empire was on par with college-level performing arts programs, and I’ve often been told how impressive the training is by casting agents and employers. Empire’s commitment to providing a safe, nurturing environment for every student, while focusing on what truly matters—passion and skill—was vital to my growth. I’m forever grateful for Empire, and I hope more families will allow their children to experience the same life-changing opportunity I had.

Famed recording artist Playboi Carti once said in an interview, “as an artist, you always want to never forget where you come from.” So I’ll lead with this: I came from Empire. I was 15 years old when I decided on a whim to audition for Empire’s spring production of Alice In Wonderland. Little did I know at the time, this is where my life would change forever. The moment I performed in front of an audience for the first time, I knew I loved it. Immediately once classes opened up again I was enrolled in acting classes and musical theatre classes. Those next four years flew by incredibly fast.
When I joined the Empire family I was an incredibly shy kid. I would only speak if spoken to, and even then my responses were quick and to the point. Empire welcomed me with open arms and made me feel so comfortable that towards the end of my time there, I bet they sometimes wished I was still that shy kid! I jest, of course. In all seriousness, Alex and Lauren are some of the kindest people you will ever meet. They put their everything into making sure Empire is a safe and welcoming environment for kids and parents alike, and it shows. Oh, speaking of shows, they also put on some killer shows while doing it. Throughout my time at Empire I realized that I loved performing not only theatre, but my own art. I began writing and releasing my own music at 16, and Alex and Lauren supported me all the way and helped me to become the artist I am today.
To show just how lovely of people we are talking about here, they even hosted my first two concerts at the theater, giving me a place to get experience performing my own art to a crowd without shelling out a large amount of money to a venue when I didn’t even have the audience to make that money back. I fully believe I never would’ve had the confidence to start making music if I had never started at Empire. I had never even sang in front of another person before my first audition there, but they saw a spark in me and worked with me to bring my inner performer out to its fullest potential. I got to learn so much about acting, dancing, musical theatre, improvisation, singing and so much more that I can’t list just to make sure that this testimonial isn’t too long.
If I had 1,000 lives, I believe I would go back to Empire every single time. My only regret is not starting sooner, honestly. I met some of the greatest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing, many of whom I’m still close with to this day, and some of my favorite memories happened either on that stage or in Studio B. I grew so much personally in not only my performance ability but my self-confidence in general. If you’re reading through this website and thinking to yourself “would this be a good place for my children?” I can say from personal experience that it most definitely is, and you won’t regret your decision.

My experience at Empire has been absolutely incredible. I have learned so many valuable life lessons, and everyone there has always been so encouraging and uplifting! I started at Empire in the summer of 2015 and stayed as long as I possibly could—until I graduated in 2024. I took as many dance classes as I could, participated in children’s shows, workshops, competition teams, summer camps, and so much more! To say the least, Empire was practically my whole life because I loved being there so much.

Empire helped me develop so many skills that I still use today. One specific skill I’m especially thankful for is auditioning—Mrs. Lauren and Mrs. Alex are incredible at showing us what auditioning in the real world is really like, and I will always be grateful for that. I learned so many other skills as well: singing, dancing, acting, improvising, projection, self-confidence, creativity, and more.
Mrs. Lauren, Mrs. Alex, Mrs. Kathleen, and every staff member were always so uplifting and supportive in everything we did. They all truly helped me build confidence in myself—something I had struggled with.

Empire was such a big part of my life, and I would not be who I am today without the lessons I learned, the teachers I had, and the friends I made during my time there!

My overall experience at Empire was absolutely wonderful! The memories, people, and performances I had the honor to create and be a part of will always hold a special place in my heart. Empire helped me discover my voice not only in singing but also in acting and performance. With the guidance I received on how to properly project my voice, I was able to take on roles in auditions and college theater that I never thought I could do. I went from having a bass vocal range to hitting baritone notes, which opened up incredible opportunities to portray characters like Willy Wonka from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the Tin Man from The Wiz, and Evan Hansen from Dear Evan Hansen. The faculty, especially Mrs. Alex and Mrs. Lauren, played such an integral role in my journey, always ensuring I felt comfortable with my roles while also encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone to reach new heights.

The most valuable lesson I learned at Empire was to never be afraid to be myself and let my unique footprint be shown to the world. Their education prepared me for the realities of professional auditions and performances, teaching me how to handle rejection and embrace the challenges of musical theater. Empire also instilled in me the importance of putting myself out there and taking chances. My advice to current students is to stay true to who you are and never let anyone tell you that you can’t achieve your dreams—because you absolutely can. For parents considering Empire for their children, know that you are giving them the opportunity to find their voice and their path in the world. Empire will always be the reason I continue to improve my creative abilities, and it will forever be a part of my journey.

I began my journey at Empire Performing Arts School taking primarily ballet classes, but over the years, I expanded my training to include jazz, acro, tap, modern, contemporary, lyrical, and pointe. I also participated in musical theater shows such as Tarzan, Hercules, and the Newsies workshop. A highlight of my time at Empire was attending an Agent Showcase audition and a learning trip to London. Additionally, I attended various summer camps, both for dance and musical theater, but it was during dance camp that I truly fell in love with dance. For seven years, I was a member of the competition team, performing group dances across all genres, and I even had the privilege of choreographing two solos. These experiences helped prepare me for the Dance Composition courses I now take in college. I also served as an assistant ballet teacher for the Level 2 and 3 classes, which gave me valuable experience for my future career.
My experience at Empire was absolutely life-changing, and I am now pursuing a dance major at Brenau University with a concentration in pre-occupational therapy. Without the constant support, training, and encouragement from my teachers at Empire, this path wouldn’t have been possible. I gained so many valuable skills that go beyond the classroom, including teamwork, goal setting, communication, and stress management. Empire taught me how to work hard, accept feedback, and keep pushing forward, which has been essential in both my academic and artistic journey. The faculty, particularly Mrs. Alex, Mrs. Lauren, and Mrs. Kathleen, were instrumental in my growth—not just as a dancer, but as a person. They balanced correction with encouragement and invested deeply in my well-being, helping me develop the confidence to pursue my goals. I also formed lifelong friendships with my peers, and the relationships I built at Empire continue to inspire me today.
